The
creation of a seven-member Core Group
for the Ponderosa Fire Safe Council has been approved by Placer County,
the City of Colfax, and the Placer Hills Fire Protection District.
The Core Group will give the Ponderosa FSC (PFSC) the stable and ongoing structure it needs to remain viable and carry out its mission of educating residents and businesses about being safe from wildfire. The PFSC Core Group consists of: Three members appointed by the County˜one each from the unincorporated area surrounding the City of Colfax, Meadow Vista, and Weimar/Applegate/Clipper Gap, etc.; these members must live or own a business in the area they represent Two members appointed by the City of Colfax, who must live or own a business within the city limits The CDF Battalion Chief for the Colfax Area and the Placer Hills Fire Protection District Chief are also members. Applications to be appointed to the PFSC Core Group can be obtained at Colfax City Hall for Colfax residents; forms for County residents are available at the Placer County Clerk‚s Office in the Domes in Auburn, or online at www.placer.ca.gov/committees/committees.htm We are working on a FIRE SAFE GRANT to help create one or more Shaded Fuel Breaks in our Council area.
